How you can get to Ferrara

Ferrara is considered the “City of bicycles” as boasted the highest bicycle ridership rate in Italy, but no doubt you might consider a different and motorized transport.

 

BY PLANE

From Bologna Airport:

1)     Shuttle

BUS&FLY Shuttle to FERRARA, 60 min. journey, daily scheduled departures every 2 h 30'.

2)    Bus and train

VENICE – MARCO POLO AIRPORT

Distance from Ferrara: 120 km

Shuttle bus every 20 minutes from Venice Airport to Venezia Mestre railway station, and from there direct trains to Ferrara every hour. Average journey time (excluding shuttle bus): 1 hour 30 minutes.

From Venice Airport:

ATVO to MESTRE TRAIN STATION, 17 min journey, daily scheduled departures every 20'.

BY TRAIN

From a not too distant location (Switzerland), this is the most convenient way to approach Ferrara. You can use the train Cisalpino to Milan, and then change to Bologna and Ferrara.

 

 

BY CAR

Ferrara can be easily reach by car as well. Use the Motorway A13 and exit to Ferrara south, if you come from west (Bologna), or Ferrara north, if you come from east (Venice). There is a speed limit of 130 km/h on motorways. Motorways are subject to a toll charge.
