Ilaria Fabbri, architetto e dottore di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Architettura di Ferrara, ha vinto il prestigioso ABB-IEEE Award for best Master and PhD Theses - Sustainability Category.

Il premio è stato conferito alla tesi dal titolo "SMART HEALTHY CITY. Innovative urban services to improve the health in the city and its residents’ wellbeing", svolta nell’ambito del XXXIV ciclo del Dottorato di Ricerca Internazionale in Architettura e Pianificazione Urbana (IDAUP) in consorzio con la Polis University di Tirana (AL) e in associazione con: Slovak University of Technology STU di Bratislava (SK), University of Minho, Guimaraes (PT) and University of Pécs - Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology - Pécs - (HU).

Dr. Ilaria Fabbri, architect and Ph.D. at the Department of Architecture of Ferrara, wins the prestigious  ABB-IEEE Award 2022 for best Master and PhD theses - Sustainability Category

The award  has been  assigned to the thesis titled: "SMART HEALTHY CITY. Innovative urban services to improve the health in the city and its residents’ wellbeing" a research work developed within the XXXIV cycle of the International Doctorate in Architecture and Urban Planning (IDAUP) based on a Consortium Agreement with Polis University of Tirana (AL) and in association with: the Slovak University of Technology STU di Bratislava (SK), University of Minho, Guimaraes (PT) and University of Pécs - Pollack Mihaly Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology - Pécs - (HU).

Dr. Fabbri's thesis has been selected among 60 theses from Italian Universities, defended in 2021 or 2022
The IEEE - the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity- together with its Chapters and WIE - Women In Engineering Affinity Group, on October 4th awarded Ilaria Fabbri with the IEEE Italy Section ABB 2022 PhD Thesis Award, dedicated to Smart and Sustainable Power and Industry.
Award and Jury's motivation:
The prestigious award consists of a certificate and an honorarium, thanks to the financial sponsorship of Italy Section and of one of the major players of the electric power industry, ABB.
A board of three experts in the field designated by the IEEE Italy Section, and one specialist appointed by ABB, evaluated and selected Ilaria Fabbri's PhD thesis according to:
- the degree of innovation in the research and proposed urban element;
- potential for application in real-world situations;
- potential impact on a global scale.
