Tecnologie ad alta efficienza energetica per la riqualificazione e rifunzionalizzazione di edifici di facciate del secondo dopoguerra (Trad. High – performing technologies for the energetic and architectural refurbishment of post war building envelopes)

Building sector account for the most energy loss waste on earth. The technical and functional performance of European stock that was built after the second world war are very poor, and there is the necessity of an architectural/technical/environmental adaptation to modern standards. With the coming into force of the EPBD 2002/91 (today 2010/31 EU), that imposed restrictive standards in terms of energy efficiency in the European countries, it will be desirable to refurbish buildings mainly considering the reduction of energy consumption by exploiting environmental resources such as heat gain or solar energy. The main objective of the thesis is to propose and disseminate techniques and methods to improve the quality of the urban building envelopes for the non-traditional building stock (buildings constructed during the second post – war period: 1950-1980) in Europe. The following categories of improving envelope are examined: ETICS (External Thermal Composit Systems), ventilated façades, double layer glass façades, solar systems (integrated photovoltaic panels) on best practice applications in national and European context.
